Pre-Driving Assessment Program

TIRR Memorial Hermann Outpatient Rehabilitation offers pre-driving assessments for people experiencing functional changes due to a neurologic incident, trauma, surgery or the aging process. It is an essential part of the driving assessment to address any deficits that may influence safety and independence as a licensed driver.

These conditions may affect vision, memory, attention, and the ability to problem solve and react quickly.

Appropriate recommendations will be made and tailored to individual patient needs. The patient and referring physician will be informed of the recommendations, which may include:

• Return to or continue with independent driving
• Referral to a behind-the-wheel driving assessment
