Kevin Everett When Buffalo Bills’ football player Kevin Everett arrived at TIRR Memorial Hermann in September 2007, after suffering spinal cord injury on the field, he was paralyzed from the neck down. After months of aggressive therapy led by a group of physicians, physical therapists and occupational therapists – that came to be known as the “dream team” – Everett has made remarkable progress and is now walking. His story of recovery has been described as a miracle and serves as inspiration for thousands of spinal cord injury patients.

Kevin’s story is told in the book Standing Tall. Written by sports columnist Sam Carchidi, the book chronicles Everett’s journey of recovery from his horrific injury to the care and rehabilitation he received by his specialized spinal cord team at TIRR Memorial Hermann.

Without the aggressive rehabilitation he received at TIRR Memorial Hermann, Everett would not be walking today. The treatment he received at the onset of his injury, coupled with the comprehensive care he underwent as part of the hospital’s spinal cord injury program, has resulted in an extraordinary outcome.
