PGY1 Memorial City

The PGY1 pharmacy residency at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center is a one year post graduate training program which begins annually in late June/early July. The program includes rotational experiences which cover the essential practice of the community clinical pharmacist.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create and sustain outstanding and comprehensive pharmaceutical care through the development and support of innovative, independent, thoughtful and compassionate post graduate year one residents.

The purpose of the PGY1 pharmacy residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Learning Experiences

Residents are required to complete six required learning experiences, track-specific electives, and six longitudinal experiences. In addition, residents will have a choice of at least 8 weeks of elective learning experiences. Throughout the year, residents will also have the opportunity to participate in Code Blue response and obtain a teaching certificate (through the University of Houston College of Pharmacy).

How to Apply

Requirements

  • Graduated from an ACPE- accredited college of pharmacy with a PharmD degree by the start of the residency year
  • Must obtain licensure as a pharmacist in Texas within 60 days of the start of residency year
  • Must meet TSBP Sterile Compounding Requirements within 90 days of residency year
  • Registered with ASHP Residency Matching program and the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application (PhORCAS)
