What Are Palliative Care Specialists?
The Supportive Medicine team is a physician-led, multidisciplinary team trained in providing symptom relief to patients suffering from chronic or life-threatening diseases. The team members manage and treat patients at any stage of their illness, regardless of age or prognosis, to maximize quality of life. There is a focus on complex and life-limiting diseases like heart failure, kidney failure, different cancers, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, etc. The Supportive Medicine program not only manages physical, but also psychosocial manifestations of serious illness through social work and chaplaincy services with a focus on providing support not only for patients but also their caregivers.
All supportive medicine/palliative care specialists in our directory are board-eligible or board-certified physicians with training in a primary care specialty with further study and training in palliative medicine.
