Dr. Pernia Latif, MD

After earning her medical degree at Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Pernia Latif completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Dr. Latif, who has been in practice since 2004, is board certified in both internal medicine and obesity medicine. She treats adult patients ages 18 and older and speaks Urdu. Her primary clinical interests are primary care, preventive health screenings, chronic disease management, hypertension (high blood pressure), hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), pre-operative evaluation, comprehensive weight management, type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. She prescribes FDA-approved medication for weight loss.

She acts as a health advisor to her patients, treating them as friends and developing a camaraderie that connects her with them. Her patients appreciate that she is very thorough and takes the time to become familiar with their individual situations.

A resident of Bellaire, Dr. Latif is married and the mother of two children. Away from her practice, she enjoys traveling, playing tennis and sampling new cuisines in Houston.
