Born and raised in Venezuela, Dr. Juan Marcano earned his medical degree at the Universidad De Carabobo in Valencia, where he trained as a general surgeon. He completed his internship and residency at UT Health San Antonio Medical School and a fellowship in thoracic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine-Texas Heart Institute in Houston.

Dr. Marcano, who has been in practice since 2001, is board certified in general surgery and thoracic and cardiac surgery. He also speaks Spanish fluently.

An assistant professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Marcano focuses on educating future physicians in cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, advanced heart failure and transplantation.

Dr. Marcano’s patients describe him as an excellent physician who listens, puts them at ease. gives complete information, genuinely cares about them and treats them as if they are his only patient.
