HOUSTON (August 24, 2015)

Memorial Hermann Prevention and Recovery Center (PaRC) Adolescent Program Manager Ernest Patterson, BS, LCDC, has been named the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals (TAAP) State Counselor of the Year. Patterson was honored with the award at the TAAP State Conference on Addiction Studies in San Antonio.

Patterson, who was selected by his peers in TAAP to receive the award, was also named the TAAP Houston Chapter Counselor of the Year in 2012.

“I am humbled by this tremendous honor,” Patterson said. “What is most important to me is that I help young people and their families who are battling addiction learn how to live a healthy, sober life and make healthy choices. I am honored that my peers chose to recognize me with this award.”

Patterson has worked in the clinical field and community for 15 years with adolescents and families to advance addiction education, relapse prevention, and intervention and addiction treatment.

“Ernest is an exceptional counselor who displays an admirable sense of calm and confidence when dealing with adolescents in treatment,” said Senior Vice President and Memorial Hermann PaRC CEO Matt Feehery. “Ernest is passionate about recovery, is committed to the program goals, works as a collaborator and team player, and brings his best to PaRC every day.”

Patterson is a Grand Canyon University Graduate, Certified Full-Leader and an International Certified Full Leader for the ManKind Project, a global nonprofit endeavor that mentors men of all ages through the passages of their lives by promoting acts of service, responsibility and acceptance.
