HUMBLE, TEXAS (August 25, 2015)

The Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital 2015 Back to School Supply Drive collected 565 pounds of materials donated by employees that will be distributed to students across several Humble Independent School District campuses for the 2015-16 school year.

The Back to School Supply Drive has been a concentrated effort at the hospital for the last eight years, said Senior Vice President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Northeast Heath Rushing.

“It’s very important to ensure that children have the tools necessary to succeed in school and have the opportunity to receive a quality education,” Rushing said. “The community supports Memorial Hermann Northeast and we want to support the community. This is one way we can do that.”

Items donated included backpacks, pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, crayons and markers, among other school materials. Memorial Hermann Northeast’s Partners in Caring (PIC) Team, which provides special services for patients, families and employees, coordinated the drive.

“This was a really great team effort by all of our employees,” said Rhonda Dishongh, who led the coordination of the drive and also serves as the hospital’s director of customer relations management. “We saw donations from employees in every department. I’m very proud that this drive will once again help students in our area.”

The Memorial Hermann PIC Team also sponsors a Summer Food Drive, Fall Food Drive and Holiday Toy Drive for Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM).
