Eric Tay, MD, a board certified endocrinologist specializing in diabetes and metabolism at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, recently discussed the importance of early diagnosis, diet and exercise, and the proper treatment of diabetes - especially Type 2 diabetes - with members of Lone Star College-Kingwood Academy for Lifelong Learning. Participants included Helen Michelini of Kingwood and Pat Chandler, program manager for the Academy.
Dr. Tay emphasized that, with proper diet, exercise and early detection, those with diabetes can lead healthy and productive lives. The Academy meets at the College annex at the East Montgomery County Improvement District building in New Caney.
