Visit Notices and Updates
All pediatric patients are required to be up-to-date on all immunizations or scheduled to receive recommended immunizations when visiting Memorial Hermann Medical Group practice locations unless there is a medical reason that the child cannot be completely vaccinated.
In accordance with the immunization schedule published by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CSC), the providers of Memorial Hermann Medical Group recommend all children receive vaccinations for the safety and wellbeing of each child and the community.
We believe in practicing evidence based medicine and providing high quality healthcare for the children in our community. Based on all available literature, evidence, and current studies, we believe it is safe and appropriate to administer the vaccines according to the above schedule.
Tell your doctor about your recent travel to West Africa or contact with a person who was sick with Ebola and your symptoms BEFORE you go to the doctor’s office or emergency room.
Calling before you go to your doctor’s office or emergency room will help the doctor or emergency room care for you and protect other people who may be in the office or emergency room.
Hydrocodone-Combination Drugs Reclassified
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency recently announced that hydrocodone-combination drugs (e.g., Vicodin, Lortab, Norco, and their generic equivalents) are being reclassified as Schedule II Controlled Substances effective October 6, 2014.
Effective October 6, 2014, there will be new requirements when filling prescriptions for this class of drugs:
- Prescribers can no longer write prescriptions that include refills for these drugs. Members will need a NEW prescription for EVERY fill.
- Prescriptions for these drugs can no longer be accepted via phone or fax.
- For members who use Catamaran Home Delivery, a written prescription for each fill must be mailed into Catamaran. They currently do not accept prescriptions for Schedule II drugs via ePrescribing.
Refills remaining on existing hydrocodone prescriptions written prior to October 6, 2014 will be valid until April 8, 2015. If you do not have refills remaining and require medication, you will need to obtain a new prescription for these drugs from your doctor.
