Memorial Hermann Health Plan Update
HOUSTON (June29,
2017)
Memorial Hermann Health Plan will no longer sell insurance
plans to individuals. For those individuals who recently purchased an
individual plan from Memorial Hermann’s health insurance company, they will
continue to be covered until Dec. 31. They will, however,
need to find a new insurance plan beginning Jan. 1.
Memorial Hermann Health Plan will continue
to sell Medicare Advantage plans and offer health insurance policies for small
and large group businesses who are interested in purchasing coverage for their
employees. In addition, the Health Plan will continue to provide health
insurance coverage for each of Memorial Hermann’s 25,000 employees and their
dependents.
Approximately 8,000 individuals purchased insurance plans through
Memorial Hermann. Only this limited number of individuals were impacted. If you
did not purchase an insurance plan from Memorial Hermann through the individual
insurance plan market, you are not affected.
This decision does not impact the insurance plans that
Memorial Hermann hospitals, facilities and affiliated physicians currently accept.
The news announced only impacts approximately 8,000
individuals who purchased individual health insurance through Memorial Hermann’s
insurance company this year.
