They employ polysomnography and other scoring methods to detect problems in the sleep cycle and evaluate the conditions that might be leading up to sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia and even restless leg syndrome. After diagnoses they suggest a treatment plan using machines like Bi-PAP, CPAP, etc.
